Warehouse Manager
JABU is a B2B e-commerce app, offering tech-enabled, route-to-market distribution of FMCG products to spaza shops in Southern Africa. With operations in 9 cities in Namibia, South Africa and Zambia, Jabu is transforming the township economy through the movement of goods and capital in its trail-blazing ecommerce & fintech journey.
About the role:
The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our warehouse, ensuring that all products are stored, packed, shipped and settled according to our quality and safety standards. The Warehouse Manager will work closely with our cross-functional teams to ensure that our customers receive the best possible service and that all orders are fulfilled in a timely and accurate manner. Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Oversee the daily operations of the warehouse, including receiving, storing, and shipping products
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for warehouse activities
- Ensure that all products are stored, packed, and shipped in accordance with quality and safety standards
- Monitor inventory levels and work with cross-functional teams to optimize stock levels and reduce waste
- Hire, train, and manage warehouse staff to ensure that they perform their duties effectively and efficiently
- Ensure that all equipment and facilities are maintained and in good working condition
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that all orders are fulfilled in a timely and accurate manner
- Manage the relationship with our logistics, transportation, and other service providers
- Plan and correct disposal of warehouse shelves and racking
- Organize warehouse operations and departments
- Oversee receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations
- Implement operational policies and procedures
- Implement and oversee security operations
- Ensure effective and safe use of warehouse equipment
- Ensure safety of staff
- Motivate and discipline staff
- Maintain documentation and keep accurate records of warehouse activities
- Maintain awareness and knowledge of the condition and location of fleet vehicles
- Assist with deliveries where required
- Responsible for the supervision and management of city-level depot team
- Responsible for the development and compliance of agreed-upon depot standard operating procedures across all depot functions (e.g., loading, stock reconciliation, cash reconciliation, storage, stock counts)
- Responsible for the management of inventory across all depots in the city
- Ensure each depot is not over/under-stocking on any SKU
- Responsible for the tracking and reporting of branch-level agent shorts, inventory, and LPOs
- Responsible for the development of branch-level depot team budgets (e.g., budget for additional personnel, storage capacity, parking capacity, offloading capacity, stock forecasting)
- Supervise claims on damaged or expired stock
- Monitor the daily count and flow of stock to and from the warehouse
- Forecast supply and demand to prevent overstocking and running out-of-stock (OOS)
- Oversee storage of products, particularly of fragile items
- Ensure Stock Control and Management SOPs are obeyed to
- Coordinate regular inventory audits
- Randomly perform audits on dispatched and loaded vehicles
- Collaborate with other departments such as sales, procurement, and fleet to eliminate stock loss and shrinkage
- Engage with suppliers and maintain a healthy stock and a privileged relation
- Explore new lines of private label products or repackaging of most consumed products
- Research, promote, and implement continuously new and novel ways to have an energy-efficient and sustainable operation

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in warehouse management, preferably in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Proven track record of managing and developing a team of warehouse staff
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, warehouse operations, and logistics
- Familiarity with B2B e-commerce and marketplaces is a plus
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Proficiency in warehouse management software and other relevant technology
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
- Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Knowledge of cybersecurity and data privacy is a plus
- Demonstrated experience in implementing and optimizing processes and systems
- Ability to think creatively and strategically to improve operations and drive efficiency
- Passion for sustainability and environmental responsibility
